Tributyrin (also named as Glyceryl tributyrate(, is a kind of short-chain fatty acid ester.
Tributyrin is essentially a triacylglyceride (TAG), which is an ester derived from glycerol and 3 fatty acids. Tributyrin requires lipase to release the butyrate attached to the glycerol.
